--Michelle Salamonski discussed Oconto County charging a fee to ride on the Machickanee Trails. The Outback Riders do not want a fee for riding on the trails and horse people are fighting to stop Oconto County, Park and Recreation. A contact person regarding the trails is Robert Skalitzky—see below:
We do not support the implementation of a fee to ride the trails in the
Machickanee. If you are opposed to the idea, please send an email to
Robert Skalitzky, Oconto County Forest and Park Administrator, at
robert.skalitzky@co.oconto.wi.us or call his office at 920-834-6827 and
express your opinion on this matter.

Hi, I signed the petition "Stop the proposed fee to ride in the Machickanee". I'm asking you to sign this petition to help us reach our goal of 1,000 signatures. I care deeply about this cause, and I hope you will support our efforts.

Michelle Salamonski suggested that because of a great balance in the club’s savings account that we should promote our club by donating some of the money to charitable causes, and also the Red River Riders every year. If anyone knows of an organization we can donate to, please make the club aware of this at our next meeting, so we can discuss this further, or contact John Mondus.
Sue Wallrich suggested an organization called CHAPS Academy that is a non-profit organization providing equine assisted mental health to individuals by working with a rider and a horse. These individuals could be suicidal or have some other issues in their lives. Also, Red River Riders would like to get involved with this organization.
We can donate money for a scholarship program, for any equine program, such as, a veterinary program, 4-H, Rodeo, etc. The club could use more ideas for this.
Jackie Pues reminded us about our club picture book that is available for everyone to view these pictures. Michelle S. said we could use more photos to add to our book, if anyone has any photos, please bring them to the next club meeting and give them to Michelle Salamonski.
Parades for this summer will need to be organized, and we will need people in the club to help out or share ideas, especially helping our new club-parade members. We need to make a list of the parades for this summer.
The Memorial Day Parade in May, the 4th of July parade in Bonduel, etc. Maybe someone in the club could be in charge of this.
A suggestion came up that our club could go to the Midieval Times in Schaumburg, IL, but we will need ideas and a date for this.
A clinic on Horse saddling or Horse starting was suggested for this year.
Cindy Lemke mentioned NAPHA and for further information see –

February 25,26,27 will be the North American Peruvian Horse Association Annual membership meeting at the South Point in Las Vegas. This is a horse facility with an arena, casino, 5 restaurants, spa, bowling alley, & movie theater. Thursday is the Regional Advisory Counsel & Club President meeting all day & Saturday will be a members Meeting & Sunday will be education & Judge certification workshops that members may also attend. Members can attend all the meetings but only the RAC Representatives can vote on agenda items. So far I & Darla Austin from Region 11 & 12 are going. We do a lot of round table discussion & work on making NAPHA a transparent, member driven, strong association There is free time in the evening to spend as you please. This is a great time to meet Peruvian Horse people from all over the US. It has been very educational & refreshing to see how the new BOD interacts with the members.
Last year we got a great deal of work done......but that was only a start. A lot to do this year & we need the help of everyone able to be there. I am flying out of GB on the 24th into Minneapolis & then to Vegas for around $350 including baggage check. Rooms at the South Point are around $54-$75 depending on the day. Mention NAPHA when making reservations. You can get cheaper flights if you are willing to fly at odd times or fly in late evening. Appleton Alliegant has a non stop flight on certain days a little more reasonable.
Thanks,
Cindy
